We have got several internship training centres where the interns are supervised to gain work experience and develop appropriate skills.
Each internship centre has supervisors who are specialists in different disciplines. They oversee the learning of the interns.
The internship program placed in LeBoHA is supported by the Ministry of Health. It is responsible for organization of the training of the interns.
There are specific responsibilities for every intern and the
following are the key ones:
Our internship program provides opportunities to the interns to further develop
their knowledge, skills and professional thinking.
"On behalf of my wife, who was a patient in your hospital, I humbly submit my sincere gratitude to the management and staff , especially to your outstanding nurses. Thank you."
"I am writing to express my gratitude from my family for the care given to my mother. In the casuality department, there was care, compassion, and respect. A special thank you to your social workers as well; they provided professional guidance, comfort, and strength to make our own decisions."
"I want to thank everyone that contributed to taking care of me. I loved my experience at Motebang Hospital and would recommend this hospital to family and friends. Keep up the phenomenal work."
The focus of LeBoHA Reorientation of Medical Education lies on training of
doctors who have the appropriate
professional competences.
Clinical competence for diagnosis of common ailments by use of bed side investigation and primary care techniques.
Participation in community health activities e.g. safe motherhood, nutrition surveillance and rehabilitation, diarrhea disorders etc.
Delivering health talks in special clinics gives interns an opportunity to educate the community on public health importance.
The actual management of the health training centers and others by the medical students would provide an opportunity to enlighten the students.
Interns should gain hands-on experience in diagnosis and management of common health conditions, e.g. management of fever.
In order to orient the social dynamics of the community, community-based projects should be carried out by interns, under the guidance of the postgraduate.
The goal of LeBoHA Internship training program is to create a Basic Doctor, physicians of first contact for the community in the primary care setting both in urban as well as rural areas of our country.
The basic doctor must function as a clinician, leader, communicator, life-long learner and a professional who is responsive and accountable to the patients and the community. Internship is a phase of training wherein a graduate is expected to conduct actual practice of medical and health care and acquire skills under supervision so that he/she may become capable of functioning independently.
The duration of internship program is twenty four(24) months for medical Interns with rotations in different disciplines.
